I really don't think the oil-type is the problem, as I've been riding normal engine oil instead of special motorcycle oil (which is 6times as expensive!!!)for 35tkm I had no problem till now, same with all my buddies. Apart from that I've put the very same oil out of the same barrel at the same time in my Suzuki DR650SE and I've no problems with clutch whatsoever with that bike.
you're of course right about the push-start but I'm rather using 1st than 2nd gear, you can (when your clutch works normally) jump down on the bike at the right time to avoid a blocking rear-wheel (believe me, I did a lot of push-starts because I just didn't want to buy a new battery :-)
